Hibiscus “tea” is not only a delicious, refreshing tea it is rich in antioxidants and some studies have shown that it may have health benefits like helping to lower blood pressure and LDLs.
Ingredients: 6 1/2 Cups of water 2 Tablespoons of loose hisbiscus leaves (or 7 tea bags) 1 Lime (about 2 Tablespoons) 1/2 Cup of honey (or 1/3 Cup of sugar) 1/4 Teaspoons of cinnamon (optional)
Bring water to a rapid boil in a medium pan. Add tea leaves or tea bags (remember to remove strings and tags). Let boil for about a minute. Remove from heat. Stir in honey and the juice of 1 lime. Let sit for about 40 to 45 minutes. Strain tea into a pitcher or container, remember may still be a bit warm. Stir in cinnamon, this is optional, adds a little more flavor to to your tea. Refrigerate for a few hours or overnight. Serve with a few slices of lime or a few lime segments. Makes about 5 to 6 cups.
