Self Care

Self care is not selfish.

To take care of others, you must take care yourself.  So get active, start or keep eating healthy, and be sure that you are getting enough rest these are key to self care.  So read a good book, connect with that friend you have been meaning to see or call, start that DIY project, have a good laugh, or take a walk.  Which you choose, take care of you.

Be sure to celebrate International Self Care Day on July 24th.

Self Care Day

Here are a few self-care tips:
Listen to what your body (and mind) needs.
Give yourself some alone time.
Eating healthy is critical, it can also support your immune system.
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.
Get active, exercise, take a walk, have a dance party (who cares if your family members or roomates are shaking their heads, go on and dance).
Make sure you get enough sleep. Grab a quick nap.
Connect with friends visit in person (IRL), or call.
Read a good book, or read one of your favorite books again.
Laugh. Remember a time or event in your life that caused a good full on belly laugh.
Start that DIY project you keep saying you’re going to do, especially if you already have what you need to get started (I’m so guilty of this one).
Learn something new.
Sing your favorite songs.
Watch a favorite movie or show.
Say positive affirmations, practice positive self talk.
Try journaling, start with a few sentences or a 5 minute writing goal. Writing can be so relaxing.
Take some time to acknowledge the good.
